So much art deco goodness!
The National Shrine of the Little Flower is located in Royal Oak, Michigan, outside of Detroit. Pope Francis designated it a minor basilica in January 2015.
The enormous bell tower is a response to the Ku Klux Klan, who burned a cross in front of the forerunner church two weeks after it opened in the 1920s. That building burnt down in an unrelated fire a few years later. The tower was completed in 1931, and the full church was finished in 1936.
It is an example of the Art Deco style.
